The tornado outlook will consist of four outlines.
A green outline means very slight risk tornado potential – usually weak to no tornado potential would exist.
A yellow outline means slight risk tornado potential – usually weak or slightly stronger tornado potential would exist.
An orange outline means strong tornado potential is possible. This outline is reserved for the better chances of touchdowns in or around the outlined areas.
A red outline means strong – violent tornado potential is possible. While the TPC is still in research mode to narrow the red outline down further, anyone in a red outline should continue to monitor latest forecasts from whatever source you can.
The forecast model will include the risks and shadings. These shadings tell you how strong convergence will be in an outlined area. If you see strong convergence in an orange or red outline it might mean a strong - violent tornado is possible during the time noted on the model. |
