The Mesoscale Discussion

A mesoscale discussion (md) is an outlined area that will be issued to reflect either a pending watch issue or update. It also can be used to briefly discuss the weather to be in or around the MD outlined area. The MDs are issued at times to follow up on tornado watches already issued. They can tell you updates on the watches issued as storms start to form.

Tornado Watches can be issued 7 hours before the tornadoes drop so we do follow up on all watches with MD's.
